LOXAHATCHEE, FL -- From her home in Loxahatchee, Jeannette Estremera wipes away tears looking at pictures of her 15-year-old son, Osvaldo Estremera.
"This was my baby and I would tuck him in every night ...and every night I would kiss him goodnight and he would say, 'I love you mom," she says.
Her precious goodnight memories now mix with images of the scene along Caloosa Blvd. in Palm  Beach Gardens early Tuesday morning: flashing lights, a truck pulled from a canal, her son's body covered by a tarp.
"I collapsed to the ground screaming my son's name out," she says.
She and Osvaldo, who went by 'Ozzie,' were at a friend's house late Monday night.
She says she left only for a few minutes and when she returned, Ozzie had left with an acquaintance, 27-year-old Jay Brandon Collins.
Estremera says she didn't know about Collins' history of drug charges but claims she did know he'd been drinking that night.
Although the investigation is not complete, she believes, "He was in no condition to drive, none whatsoever."
Why her son, a freshman and football player at Dwyer High School chose to get in the truck with him, she'll never understand.
Why he seemingly wasn't wearing a seatbelt when the truck lost control, ejecting Ozzie before crashing into the canal where Collins also died, makes no sense either.
"I never thought what happened that night was possible, even remotely possible," Estremera says.
She whispers "I love you" to a picture of her son, trying to push away memories of holding his cold hand along the shore of the canal, sharing one final goodnight prayer with her baby.
"I kneeled over to him and said, 'I love you, I love you, I'm so sorry you're hurt and that you're gone, that I'll never hear your voice again, that I'll miss you forever and you are the best gift God ever gave me."
Ozzie Estremera's family is holding a private viewing in their home Thursday.
Funeral services are scheduled for Saturday from 11am-2pm at The Gardens Memorial Park in Boca Raton.
